Agoda - Homestay booking & Refund experience
Sharing my experience booking homestay thru Agoda & requesting refund due to wrong info provided by the property owner
Based on this experience, not easy to get refund from Agoda
9 Apr - booking made & fully paid
17 Apr - property owner informed homestay fully booked
I then booked another accomodation & requested full refund
However, was informed by owner they wrongly see the date & now booking is honored. I informed owner i have booked another accomodation & request to proceed refund
No further reply from owner
I contacted agoda customer service & get same answer. But CS can help to send request to owner
Agoda need approval from property owner to provide full refund eventhough mistake was from owner side
Agoda can't do anything ??? when no respond from property owner
Not sure what kind of customer protection program available in agoda or even if they have any
I contacted property owner thru agoda messaging & contacted customer service for another refund request
I submitted the request few times as i believe i should get a full refund in this situation
After few exhausting attempt to get refund, finally i got it
I guess property owner finally agree to refund (owner did not reply my messages). For this, thank you
Few reminder to myself based on the above
* For private property better make inquiry with owner on availability before making a booking. However, not all property have option to contact owner
* Book using credit card. For refund it will refund back to the card
It would be difficult if property owner is not cooperative/responsible
Not sure if i still want to use Agoda in future due to lack of customer protection should any discrepancy happen
